Gimme slow fast food…

On the same day I visit Swork coffee shop & did some window shopping, my hunger quickly grew for a real meal. Venturing down the street, the retro sign of The Oinkster stands out over the horizon. Andre Guerrero you’ve won my foodie heart. The place is a stylish “fastfood” establishment filled with a menu that makes your eyes glimmer with hungry hope & thankfully alcohol too. Naturally, I try “the oinkster pastrami sandwich”, deliciously filled with soft slabs of yummy goodness. OMG this thing is amazing, especially since I kinda hate pastrami. I enjoy this bundle of joy with crunchy “piggy fries”, reminiscent of the animal style fries found at In and Out, only much tastier. I am simply in a state of food bliss, that I quickly order another for my sister who would surely appreciate this devilish sandwich. So, this place will definitely warrant another visit & I can’t wait! The Oinkster • 2005 Colorado Blvd., Eagle Rock, CA

Monica is…a coffee junky & proud of it.

Anyone who knows me well enough, knows I love coffee. It it one of my top five vices that I cant live without. It makes my day 100 times better knowing I’m up & charged with it’s delicious goodness. I’m quite picky & can usually tell when a cup of joe is just poo poo. It’s all about the beans & if the place cares enough to have their own special blend or at least one harvested with care, it makes me a happy camper. So, since I’m such a coffee snob, I had to try Swork. (Made LA Magazine & Sunset Magazine’s best coffee house lists) Up until visiting the place today, I had heard nothing but great things about the place & was extremely pleased to see it was all true. It’s a great, cozy place with amazing coffee & really nice people! There was plenty of seating, especially on this gloomy rainy day. Perfect day for a decadent chocolate fudge muffin, coffee & fashion magazines. Bliss…  Swork 2160 Colorado Blvd. Eagle Rock, CA 90041 t.323.258.5600

and yes that muffin was to die for…

I remember this vaguely, kinda sad I missed this before the “Bradley Cooper Mania” began…Hey, Mr. Cooper please no more dates with Jennifer Aniston, she’s stone cold & the thought of you dating that icicle kills the…ahhemm…fantasy.

UPDATE—–here’s that pic…

Monica is…in burger heaven.

need I say more?

Oh, The Habit...

So, I guess unofficially, burgers must be my favorite food. I seem to enjoy these cheesy things more than anything I eat. I love them & I can really dissect whats really good or bad about one. One of my top places to visit is The Habit Burger Grill. Not to be confused with the other Habit in West L.A. I think this place is better. The meat is delicious & chargrilled layered with cheese & grilled onions. yummy! The shakes are thick, rich & sinful, perfect after a crappy day at work. It nourishes the soul & star-wipes all evil away. The Habit Burger Grill 249 N Glendale Ave  Glendale, CA 91206.

Monica is…in fast food heaven.

la-mag

It’s magazine arrival week & nearly fell over when I saw the cover for Los Angeles Magazine dedicated to cheap eats! Seeing how everything is “recession” targeted, I can really appreciate the breakdown. It’s taken the best of the best from tacos, pizza, hot dogs to burgers & fries. Most are under $15 & a perfect excuse to explore more of the changing LA restaurant/retail landscape.  Feeling inspired to try new cheap eats, (restaurants close way too early in LA) I settled for the new Jack in The Box mini sirloin burgers & they are suprisingly sublime. Three cheesy, burgers filled with grilled onions, ketchup on a soft buttery bun. (I did add some mustard which made them deliciously complete) For under $6 bucks it’s enough to keep me thinking about them the next day—-cheesy goodness.
