Monica is…drenched with color.

It has been weeks since I had the whole weekend off & I was due for some much needed sight seeing. After having breakfast, I decided to soak up the sun & visit Placita Olvera. Years had flown by since my last visit to this Los Angeles landmark & wondered if anything had changed. To my surprise, everything was just as I remembered it; buzzing with people, great food & music from the mariachi bands. I inhaled delicious taquitos from a local stand & loved exploring the countless little shops filled with artifacts. The colors were so vibrant & pure, I instantly picked up many decorating ideas for my apartment & can’t wait to execute them soon!

Is summer here yet?

Perhaps, I’m just incredibly impatient. Summer needs to be here pronto! I’m generally a winter person, who loves the chill & any excuse to wear a coat in LA. Yet there’s nothing better than the ease of warm breezes, sunsets at 8pm, & carefree  days. As the weather improves, I can’t help but seize moments & capture little snapshots of some favorite places. Some of these textures make me yearn for pops of color & gleaming metallic, ideal for my new summer staples…let the summer wish list begin!

I need these…

I am a ballet flat junkie. Maybe because the first time I laid eyes on Audrey Hepburn, she was wearing flats. She looked confident, sophisticated & well,  stunning. So, as much as I love heels (what girl doesn’t?), I seem to gravitate towards them. I’m terribly picky when it comes to the “perfect ballet” flats & generally buy multiples when the style just works. The shape has to be just right, not too round, not too pointy & when I found these my heart fluttered. Cynthia Vincent got it just right. The Mila flat is a bit edgy, yet delicate enough to wear with a cute dress or boyfriend jeans…these will be mine.

Monica is…feelin’ foxy.

Sheesh! it’s been a long while! I was MIA, for weeks & sort of still feel lost without my own laptop, since the “great shutdown of 2010”. Borrowing one is better than nothing, but it’s surely not the same. I’ve been working a new job (which I still don’t know about…sigh*), but one of the pros is discovering Foxy’s Restaurant. I am such a sucker for good old American diner food & never pass up a chance to try a new place. This has the classics, but without all of the cheesy decor. (well, there is the charming toaster at your table so you get it just right) Exceptional service & breakfast was heavenly with large colorful plates of omlettes, avocado, country potatoes & fresh baked bread. They even bring you the paper as soon as you sit down! hehe, too bad I’m terribly iphone dependent, but a nice touch. Foxy’s Restaurant 206 W Colorado St Glendale, CA 91204

Monica is…letting the sun shine on.

Things have been so hectic again that I neglected posting for a while. Started a new job (which I’m still on the fence about), but trying to keep so that I can get a desktop & work on a new project. It’s so tough to start & actually finish something, but I have to try right? Inspiration is everywhere &  Los Angeles has been especially beautiful…I stole a few shots of my favorite things from the past weeks…
