Monica is…caught on a coastal break.

Aside from the usual obsessions I have (fashion, blah, blah), I love graphic design imagery. I think it’s one of the most interesting & complicated forms of art out there. When it’s good (because everyone wants to be an “artist”) it’s actually really beautiful. There is so much layering involved in just one image & quite frankly it’s mind blowing especially if your work is Scott Hansen’s. His images have that uncanny, sleepy vintage look that reminds me of Sofia Coppola’s Virgin Suicides haze. Piece after piece is stunning & rich with colors, pretty enough to framed. Bonus*— Scott makes music too, under the name Tycho & his song Coastal Break is the perfect anthem for driving on a typical LA day!

the haze in Lost*… still one of my favorite movies of all time

Monica is…doing it all again.

Since the song’s release, Corinne Bailey Rae’s I’d Do It Again has been filling my ears with melodic sugar. It’s a haunting, beautiful song off her new release The Sea. She’s been in seclusion for almost two years, since her husbands death in 2008 from an apparent drug overdose. The song set, layered with grief, anger, & hope make this a somber, but memorable record. One I can’t get enough of…especially this one…

Monica is…making lists.

For me, making lists is a great way to organize my thoughts & goals. I’m a huge believer in writing things down & crossing things off as you complete tasks. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing personal goals off your list dwindle down & there’s no better way to do this than in a stylish notebook or handy pad. I love Moleskine for their simplicity & design. I don’t need huge bells & whistles, just good organization that makes sense. So, naturally when I saw these colorful editions, my head filled with plenty of things to jot down in these superb journals! One, two, three…go!

such a great idea!

pretty impressions…

Monica is…glad it’s a new year!

Hi!!! I’m back for a quick post! My computer is still shambles, but I thought I would briefly update. I never thought I would love blogging soo much. It first started out as a hobby. A way to challenge myself  & write about things I’m passionate about. Its a new year & I’m excited about what the new year will bring. New opportunities, new connections, & new rewards! Like most people at the start of a new year, we set goals in hopes of welcoming change. I have set personal goals of my own (blog, career, relationships etc) & hope these changes make me a better & happier person.  Last year was a tough one for most & this year I wish everyone the best of luck & happiness! A new year, also means new bags & shoes….xo! Clare Vivier your killing me…

Isn’t this baby messenger bag killer?

Monica is…still without computer!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I am still without computer, so I thought I’d use this wordpress app for the iPhone. I hope it translates well! I can say that I’m working on getting a new one, but in the meantime here’s a pic of my new fisheye camera my sister gave me! I can’t wait to use it! Tata for now!
